Templates and compose

Build reusable templates and turn them into launch-ready campaigns.

This guide covers the template library, the wizard, manual HTML editing, asset usage, merge tags, and the Compose workflow.

Goal
Move from reusable content to a saved or launched campaign without losing control of layout, variables, or sender choices.
Best for
Operators building content, reusable email patterns, PDF-ready attachments, and campaign drafts.
Outcome
Templates that stay reusable and campaigns that are correctly mapped before they enter the queue.

Section 1

Start in the template library

Templates are the reusable content layer; Compose is where you turn them into a send.

Surfaces

Templates

How to use it

  1. 01Create templates in advance for any content pattern you expect to reuse across campaigns or attachments.
  2. 02Choose plain text for lightweight operator notes, HTML for direct branded messages, and PDF-ready HTML when the output will be rendered as an attachment.
  3. 03Keep template names specific enough that Compose operators can identify the right one quickly.

Operator notes

  • Saving a strong template first reduces rushed formatting decisions later when a campaign needs to go live.

Section 2

Use the wizard when you want speed, and HTML when you want full control

The wizard is for guided structure; the HTML tab is for exact markup control.

Surfaces

Templates > Wizard · Templates > Edit · Templates > Preview

How to use it

  1. 01Use Wizard when you want a fast, structured starting point with guided choices for layout, styling, brand, and content.
  2. 02Switch to Edit when you need to paste or fine-tune markup directly.
  3. 03Use Preview or the pop-out preview surface to confirm the message reads correctly before saving.

Operator notes

  • If you open Wizard over non-wizard HTML, the wizard warns that it will replace the current source with a guided layout.

Section 3

Manage variables, logos, and PDF-ready content

Templates should carry reusable structure, not campaign-specific guesses.

Surfaces

Templates > Variables · Logo asset library · Generated attachment support

How to use it

  1. 01Use merge tags for recipient-specific values like names, codes, dates, invoice fields, or event data.
  2. 02Keep saved logo assets in the shared library so brand elements stay reusable across templates.
  3. 03Use PDF-ready templates for receipts, passes, invoices, or summary documents that will be generated as attachments later.

Operator notes

  • Templates expose variables, but Compose is where you decide how those values map for a specific campaign.

Section 4

Compose and save a campaign

Compose ties the audience, template, sender, routing, and attachment choices together.

Surfaces

Compose

How to use it

  1. 01Choose the audience and template first so the preview can reflect the real content source.
  2. 02Review sender identity, reply routing, attachment mode, unsubscribe settings, and any personalization mappings before launch.
  3. 03Use save or send according to the workflow: save when another operator still needs to review it, send or schedule when the campaign is actually ready.

Operator notes

  • Compose now creates the campaign and hands off campaign operations to the Campaigns rail, so the live control surface starts after the draft is created.
